Balearic band-aids

Our apologies for the radio silence everyone, life has been getting in the way a little. To be quite frank, we've also had a hard time finding new music that truly stands out these past few months. Don't get me wrong, there's a ton of decent disco and house tackle doing the rounds - and we picked up our fair share of them as always - but apart from Tom Noble's recent missives on Superior Elevation and Arcane (as Diamond Jackson) nothing seems to really amaze me at the moment. I've hit patches like this before and they usually entail foraging into forgotten hiphop or jazz for a few weeks, but this time around it's balearic tackle providing the sonic band-aids. I've always had a serious soft spot for beardy adriatic fare but this stuff is really tickling my pickle at the moment. Have a listen to some of the bits we picked up over the past weeks. Oh and rest assured, blood is thicker than water, we'll get our groove back soon enough.

L.U.C.A - Niagara / ROTLA Version (Edizioni Mondo)

Lexx put us onto this with his impeccable Test Pressing Mix. Ten minutes of pure bliss.

Stratus - Tisno (Aficionado)

Aficionado is one of our favourite imprints out there and this ditty from last year (tucked away on the B-side of Stratus' EP) is so soothing.

Lion Heart & Cee Zee Du - Meteor Connection (Mood Hut)

Mood Hut threw a lovely curveball with their recent Disco Mantras release. Proper balearic/ambient sketches and soundscapes, takes a little getting into but it's amazing stuff.

B.J. Smith - Hold on To It / Jonny Nash remix (NuNorthernSoul)

Another one from last year that's back in heavy rotation, mesmerizing stuff by the absurdly talented Jonny Nash.

Cantoma's recent 12" on High Wood also comes highly recommended (the B-side in particular) but I can't seem to find any clips of it online to embed, so head over to Picc for a browse.
